ABSTRACT

This first chapter aims to give a global approach to the book that includes a global structure as well as a global and detailed description of each chapter and its intersection with the physical asset's life cycle, namely the following: acquisition, terms of reference, market consultation, commissioning, starting and starting maintenance, economic and/or lifespan issues, and renewal and/or withdrawal.

Because of this transverse approach, the reader can identify the most important chapters that he or she considers more relevant for his or her objectives or, if he or she decides to read the book from the beginning to the end, can get to know the path he or she will follow and the final goal at the end.
