ABSTRACT

Physical asset acquisition is the first step that has the potential to give the equipment and facilities a rational economic life or the opposite. It is strategic to implement excellent terms of reference with all functional and operational conditions obeying the current standards.

After acquisition time, physical assets start their operational time, and their maintenance will be internal or outsourced. In this last situation, it is fundamental to create good terms of reference to support the outsourcing contract. It is strategic to respect the standards imposed today that have the references to best describe the relationships between service suppliers and customers, with an objective of maximizing the assets’ availability at the best price.

Finally, it is important to identify the withdrawal time. This moment may correspond to some greater or lesser interval depending on the methodology used, namely the economic life cycle or lifespan.
