ABSTRACT

This chapter includes eminent women of India of all ages and from all walks of life and in all areas-religion, education, art, literature, politics, and social welfare. It lists some directories, Who's Who's, commemoration volumes, and biographical dictionaries. The chapter also includes biographies and autobiographies, letters, diaries of famous women. One can be proud of these women, who have sacrificed their time and worked tirelessly against all odds for the amelioration of their less-fortunate sisters. They have inspired today's women to work for such a noble cause. The autobiographical narrative of Bahinabai's childhood and some philosophical verses of this saintly personality are translated. She was troubled by the nature of womanhood, a problem which has found expression in her verses. Mr. Mishri of Patna compiled the names of and other relevant information about eminent women.
