ABSTRACT
In the same year of Tama Gracia’s secret baptism, Takayama Ukon Justo successfully persuaded most of his daimyō tea fellows to become Christian converts. Tadaoki was one who never became Kirishitan. When Hideyoshi issued the Edict of Expulsion on July 24, demoted Ukon Justo from his daimyō status, and stripped him of his fief of Akashi, Tadaoki expressed his full support of Hideyoshi’s anti-Christian policy.
