ABSTRACT
Justa’s story led to the discovery of many sketches of the lesser-known women of confrarias. These fragments collectively attest to their important services to the poor. Kirishitan women of confrarias and their counterparts in Europe and the colonies shared common concerns about women’s tribulations in life, death, and the afterlife. They developed similar communal rituals to cope with difficulties.
