ABSTRACT

Franz von Baader’s (1765–1841) singular importance for the development of Kierkegaard’s thought has been observed in the past. 1 In the auction catalogue of Kierkegaard’s library, works by Baader form one of the single largest group of books from one author, comprising 27 titles. Kierkegaard owned more works by Baader than by Hegel. In fact, he possessed almost all of Baader’s books and certainly all of his important ones.
