ABSTRACT
In most road networks, especially in urban areas, traffic performance at intersections dictates the performance of the rest of the network. Thus studies of intersection performance are of great importance in traffic analysis. Aspects of performance requiring attention include delays, queuing and capacity, with the related factors of gap acceptance and saturation flow rates. The performance of a junction is dependent not only on total traffic flows, but also on the pattern of traffic movement through the junction.
