ABSTRACT

Traditionally, tuk bands performed at the rum shop, and also on special occasions and public holidays such as Christmas, for Sunday picnics, and with the Landship. Whilst today bands still perform for special occasions, these tend to be for staged events where an audience will observe the band performing, rather than impromptu gatherings where audience participation was a key part of the event. Bands also continue to play with the Landship, albeit on a much reduced scale due to the reduced activities of the Landship itself.
