ABSTRACT

In the last chapter we looked at the organisational context in which training takes place. We tried to identify some of the strategic issues that will need to be addressed if our attempts to shape training are to succeed. Training is all about bringing about change. People who previously could not do something now can perform to the required standard as a result of some planned intervention and, therefore, it follows that learning has occurred. Learning is one of those words that we take for granted and yet the process of learning is still poorly understood.
