ABSTRACT

In the Islamic age, caliphs imitated the ancient Iranian postal system: Under the caliphs, the postmaster was the manager of the communications service, and so supervised the different affairs of the country. In ancient Indo-Iranian mythology, Mitra and Varona were symbols of the two different divine and human aspects of government. The traditional political culture of Iran determined many aspects of politics and the political management of the society. The traditional political culture of Iranian society originated in the Asiatic mode of production, and through this association acquired the character which affects political processes even today. Some Marxist scholars defended the theory of the Asiatic mode of production. Property ownership has a complex nature in the Asiatic mode of production. The term the Asiatic mode of production was first used to distinguish the social system of a group of countries from European feudalism. One of the characteristics of the Asiatic mode of production is massive bureaucracy.
