ABSTRACT
The LOSC uses various expressions to describe artificial islands, installations and structures. 2 There are various kinds of artificial islands and offshore installations, each used for different purposes. Sea cities, 3 industrial installations,4 installations for the purpose of fisheries and fish farming, 5 power installations, 6 transportation terminals, 7 communication stations,8 military stations,9 installations for the purpose of scientific research, 10 installations for the purpose of exploration of non natural resources and installations for the purpose of exploration and exploitation of natural resources of the sea are the main types of artificial islands and offshore installations. Oil rigs are part of offshore installations for the purpose of exploration and exploitation of natural resources of the sea.
