From the Sikkat al-Andalus to the Mint of Madīnat al-Zahrā'

As a general consideration, it may be accepted that the Umayyad emirate of Cordoba had developed a monetary system based almost exclusively on the silver dirham. It was a system which functioned for nearly a century and a half, and was a faithful reflection of the monetary and fiscal policy of the Andalusi Umayyad state, respecting its Eastern numismatic model in formal terms.
