ABSTRACT

A plan is a document, whether it is strategic, corporate, operational, or some other variant. It has specific intentions set out clearly, with explicit detail on who, what, when and with what resources. There are usually at least two versions, likely, the pretty one for publication, and the live one that guides short-term projects and aids longer-term priority setting. The Plan is the property of the organization, not of the facilitator. An acronym to remember when action-planning, either for individuals or groups, all actions, objectives, group tasks, etc. should be SMART. An Action Plan is a list of major and minor activities which must be carried out in order to achieve a stated aim, plan or goal. A Gantt chart may be scaled by hours, days, weeks, calendar months or even years. It is not essential to write up the flip-charts generated at Workshops, and indeed sometimes this simply adds to the paper-chase of an organization to no real purpose.
