ABSTRACT
In the second book of the Organon, the Hermeneutics, and in the Poetics, Aristotle addresses a number of grammatical themes. The work of Aristotle, having been translated first into Syriac and then into Arabic, was familiar in Muslim intellectual circles, as early as the ninth century. Since 1978 we have had at our disposal the work of Ibn al-Muqaffa' on Aristotle's logic, in the edition supplied by an Iranian scholar, M. Muhammad Taqi Daneche Pajuh, on the basis of the Beirut manuscript and on three other manuscripts preserved in Iran and in India. This edition shows that grammarians have, not the entire text, but the summary of a commentary on three books of the Organon: the Categories, the Hermeneutics and the Prior Analytics, and the translator is not Muhammad Ibn 'Abdallah al-Muqaffa', as the Beirut manuscript indicates, but rather: Abu Muhammad Abdallah Ibn al-Muqaffa'.
