ABSTRACT

If someone were to ask me whether I was ‘in a team’ or a ‘good team-worker’, I really couldn’t answer any longer. The reality for me as a small company CEO is that my colleagues and I are collaborating continually as we work. This collaboration is not only internal but also with various external entities and customers, further blurring the concept of ‘teamwork’. For me, a typical day involves around 40 emails, 20 posts on Yammer, reading and responding to 50 or more Skype chats, accessing shared Google docs, downloading reports posted that day on Basecamp, and the list continues. Some of these collaborations are with colleagues, while many others are with clients and partners, or through LinkedIn with people I know in the industry and wider marketplace.
