ABSTRACT

The first half of the sixteenth century, under Guy XVI and his son Guy XVII, was a period of great riches for the house of Laval. The court of the counts in this era reached heights of unrivalled splendour and the family’s loyal followers were able to bask in this new magnificence. For 50 years the Lavals would reap the benefits of a century of patient growth and dynastic expansion.
