ABSTRACT

At the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s of the twentieth century, the Balkan region was characterized by intensive population migrations. As a result many authors refer to the twentieth century as a century of migrations, having in mind the intensity, types, causes and consequences of these migrations. Population migrations in the Balkans reached their peak in the wake of the War of Yugoslav Succession (1991-1995) and the War for Kosovo (1998-1999) and affected above all the post-Yugoslav region.
