householdslivinginovercrowdedconditions,ortheattitudesof factoryworkerstopaymentbypiecerates.Forsuchdescriptive surveysthegeneralideaisrelativelysimple:informationiscollected forasampleofthepopulation,andfromthistherequireddescriptive measuresarecalculated.Theprecedingchaptershavebeenconcernedinthemainwithsampledesignsfordescriptivesurveys,and methodsofcollectingvaliddatawillbediscussedinsucceeding chapters.
