ABSTRACT
Lecture delivered at the Royal Society analysis Islam and Science relationship and brings home some interesting ideas with regard to the decline of science in Islamic society. The author differs the hitherto held view that triumph ofAsharia with led to the fall of science and says that had it been so, scientist of the eminence ofAI-Biruni, andAl-Haithom would not have existed with their science andasharite ideology. Sardar explores the fall of Science in the soul deterioration of Islamic society accompanied with economic degeneration which was furthered by colonization.
