ABSTRACT

In this chapter, two fundamental questions are considered: (1) What does Pakistan see as the emerging challenges in its immediate security environment as well as in the broader Asian region? (2) What future security outcomes would make Pakistan believe that strategic stability had been achieved in the Asian continent? This chapter will examine Pakistan’s security dilemma at three levels of analysis: (1) the domestic situation; (2) the security environment in South Asia; and (3) the security environment in the broader Asian region. The third part focuses on China and its close relations with Pakistan, as well as US-Pakistan relations.
