ABSTRACT

The Six Sigma teams are usually formed within the organisation and are composed of members from different functional backgrounds and levels of experience. Most Six Sigma projects are led by master black belts. Being in essence an approach based on wide involvement, Six Sigma uses a variety of tools and techniques borrowed from areas such as business consultancy, statistics and even marketing, to collect, analyse and use information to design and implement process improvements. Six Sigma teams often play the role of internal consultants within an organisation. Common activities include workshops, interviews, focus groups, team meetings, and more individual tasks such as data gathering, processing of statistical data, computing indicators and mapping and understanding trends and the root cause of errors and process failures. Using Six Sigma tools, in particular in Human Resource Transformation, provides a means of structuring and managing project so that it runs smoothly.
