English (e Natural History of Iceland in 1758) and French (1764). Banks’s copy of the book is in the British Library. It is a very handsome volume ‘and illustrated with a New General Map of the Island’, an excellent source for Banks’s expedition. Not until 1966 was an Icelandic translation published.
