ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to review the trends of retail decentralisation, retail and transport planning. Firstly, it will attempt to review the causes and trends of retail decentralisation. This will be illustrated by a review of retail decentralisation in two major retail markets, namely, the United States of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK), as well as other markets. This will be followed by retail and transport planning trends relating to retail decentralisation. Finally, the chapter will highlight the implications of these trends on consumer shopping behaviour.
