ABSTRACT

In the holiness of the communion of saints the world should come to learn what the holiness (that is, the divineness) of the incarnate Word on earth was. Without this holiness of the Word we live by, the holiness of the Word we worship would lack full incarnational truth. The Word in the world has the power to turn speculative truth into actual living, the exercise of authority into holiness of life, theology into Christian practice, reflection into irrefutable witness of life to the point of martyrdom. This is what its credentials consist in, but they derive ultimately from men’s utter surrender to it and adoration in faith, hope and love to the indwelling Word.
