ABSTRACT

Introduction The need for quality assurance within the design team should now be evident. The method by which a streamlined and appropriate system is established for the design team might, however, be less obvious. The procedures most appropriate to any company are those that are developed by and tailored to meet the specific requirements and nature of the company and will to a great extent reflect working practices already in operation. This chapter, therefore, sets out the basic principles associated with the development of working procedures for design and gives guidance on typical procedures that might be developed in specific circumstances.
