ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses analysis, which in qualitative research is a significant skill that is employed from an early stage of any project. We take a look at some of the general forms of qualitative analysis, including some of the skills and tasks that are applied. It will be shown that there are different ways to undertake analysis, and present some of the general rules or guidelines intended to assist this process. We also then look in more detail at specific forms of qualitative analysis: including thematic, comparative, and documentary analysis. Finally, we then look at possible alternatives to more traditional methods.
