ABSTRACT
The field of humanities debate the merits of books versus journal articles. The weighting of merit is becoming very important in this age of measuring performance and impact. This chapter provides a timely overview of these new developments, synthesising the literature in this area. While there is a move to publish only electronic books (e-books), the place of the hardback or paperback book is in question.
