ABSTRACT

CPD scheduling is also a form of project planning. Some of it will be less time-critical, while some will require regular review and rescheduling to keep it moving forward. But regular monitoring by each individual will keep tabs on the completion of actions which are necessary to keep their development progressing. Sometimes, in the cold light of reality or necessity, the need to change plans becomes imperative - goalposts are moved or milestones shifted in a more considered, reasoned manner. Trainers are probably well aware of the win-win style in negotiation, where both parties feel that they have won some concluding agreement. Negotiation will often involve the cross-over point between co-operation and assertion - with the key challenge being to get the correct mix. The chapter provides a case study of middle-aged manager who is good at his job and skilled at applying the advanced techniques within his portfolio. It mainly focuses on his communication problem.
