ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the selected planning methods for at least some of the Continuing Personal and Professional Development (CPD) activities, mentors will have applied objective thinking to the process and can think in terms of actions and planned outcomes. It provides the benefits of working within the energy of the integrated triangle, at any one time either as development support function (DSF) member, mentor or individual learner. The concept of the integrated triangle, incorporating individual, manager/mentor and Development Support Function will flourish where it is built on strong foundations and is given the support of a flexible CPD system which is designed and maintained to meet the needs of each developing individual. This integrated approach, building progressively in a co-operative manner, will lead more and more towards a holistic outcome – with the overall effect to all those concerned greater than the sum of the individual elements.
