ABSTRACT

Having the correct equipment for any particular exercise is very important, as is using the most appropriate techniques. This chapter reviews the different ways that individuals will respond to their own learning needs, as well as those of others. However, in some ways, both events would require very similar types of resourcing, such as map reading and planning, selecting general equipment and arranging transport and basic supplies. The general scenario was a stores department within a major UK company which was principally involved in a specific form of engineering. So the problem was partially technological, coupled with poor technique. This was not so much due to poor training but more to equipment limitations. If trainer considers the bigger picture objectively, he will be better prepared to respond to learning/development needs as specifically and effectively as possible. The statistical manipulation of standards for political gain may also result in a loss of credibility for those same standards and qualifications.
