ABSTRACT
We do not know what this supervisor-pilot was thinking -- he certainly did not offer it in the investigation, but from his decisions we can see that there was not much rational thought. Again, this is anecdotal evidence, but we can see the effect of motivation in blocking out rational decision making. It might be argued that such irrational thought is the result of defects in the personality of the pilot involved.
