ABSTRACT

In a vision-driven metrics system, the goal is to track progress toward some future-state vision for the organization. In a process-driven metrics system, the goal is to improve a specific business process in the organization, such as improving clinical trials or getting higher-quality go/no-go decisions during compound development. It’s best to start with a map of the process, identify areas for improvement, and then attach metrics to those improvement areas. Inventrix is attempting to improve the functioning of their entire organization and achieve a future-state vision of a highly innovative R & D operation. There are several top-quality metrics databases on the market that can be customized, automated, web enabled and more. The amount of work to maintain the database is directly related to the complexity of the metrics.
