ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to increase awareness of the problem of violence at work and how to keep safe. It gathers the group's ideas of what violence at work is. The chapter discusses what they would include in the term 'violence at work' and what they would exclude, and why. It explains to, or shows the group, how other people define violence at work. The chapter ensures the group understands violence is used as an all-embracing term to cover a range of behaviour and its effects. Individuals prepare a personal action plan, listing actions they can take independently to minimize the risks they face, and any actions they can take to bring risks that need action from others to the attention of the appropriate people. As the group members complete action plans, ask them to.
