ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how to: introduce the game, present the rules, react to some more common problems during the game, wrap up the game and manage physical, psychological and other risks during the game. Game chief: This person is the project manager of the game. Experience shows that having more than one game chief often results in mismanaged projects. The role of the game chief is to run the preparation, the game and the review; however, anything can be delegated to other team members. They usually learn about the game no longer than a couple hours before it takes place, sometimes just a few minutes, but this does not mean they should come unprepared for the game. Each game usually starts with an opening, which sets the atmosphere and tunes in the participants. A game that is perfectly tolerable by one culture may present a major emotional challenge from people from another culture.
