ABSTRACT
Science has made yet a further departure from a literal reading of Genesis 1-3. Whereas much interpretation of the biblical account has attributed all physical suffering and death to the sin of Adam, the fossil record clearly shows that living creatures not only died but killed and ate each other, and even competed in evolutionary “arms races,” for many millions of years before the first human sin.1
