ABSTRACT

The previous chapter outlined the policy context of the study and the review of literature which helped identify gaps in current knowledge of transport-related social exclusion, extending the key concepts introduced in Chapter 1. This chapter describes the research approach which arose from a desire to fill some of the gaps in the literature identified in Chapter 2 and, in particular, the evolution of a methodology that would meet the outcomes set out in Chapter 1. An introduction to the methodology was provided in Chapter 1. This chapter aims to build on that introduction and to provide a rationale for the choice of methods.
