ABSTRACT
The focus of my paper is Europe today: and the millions of its people who have immigrated since the 1960s, for the vast majority young adults looking for a better future. They have come from all over the world, bringing with them their families and their cultural backgrounds (Lesthaeghe, 2002; Koenes, 1994; Todd, 1994). At the moment there are several hundred thousand Muslims living in Europe (Nonneman et al., 1996; Maréchal, 2003).
