20.6A2 Title 1. A simple term indicating the form, type or genre of the materials:

photograph; aerial photograph; transparency; negative. This data element is used to give the user an immediate impression

of the kind of object that is being described. For example:

‘Photograph of Mrs Jane Rochester, 1867’

Suitable terms include photograph, transparency, [photographic] print, negative, glass plate. The term ‘photograph’ may be used as the default, and so left unstated. More detailed, technical or explanatory terms appear in the Physical Description Sub-area.
