ABSTRACT

Creating workplace partnerships among generations can be difficult. Knowing the common ground that exists between two individuals is problematic at best and can be summed into the concept of the “psychological contract.” Increasingly at work, managers, line workers, executives, and support staff all struggle to define the boundaries of their roles and the expectations of their superiors. With the presence of multiple generations in today’s workplace it is paramount to understand and define the expectations of individuals at work. With our focus on Millennials, this distinction takes on special importance. A group that values leisure time above all else, craves praise and attention and seeks to meet the needs of their supervisors to move up the corporate ladder, an intact psychological contract is imperative.
