ABSTRACT

A Supply Chain Manager was recruited from a multinational, fast-moving consumer goods company in a major infrastructure project organisation to implement Supply Chain Management processes in the project. He had gut feeling that his effort was most likely to fail because the Project Manager and the Board viewed supply chain management as a tool for operations management and as a narrow effort in managing projects. The author’s experience supports the manager’s doubts. The goal of supply chain management is not to produce a silver bullet to solve all procurement and supply problems. It is indeed a holistic process involving all key members of the project team, suppliers and contractors. The aim of this chapter is to outline how the key deliverables from previous chapters can be pulled together to benefit from managing an integrated supply project supply chain and highlight the critical success factors of making it happen.
