ABSTRACT
In the UK we can draw on ‘values-based’ historic environment practices that have emerged from recent advances in conservation planning. However, applications in the planning and environmental regulatory sphere are likely to be more demanding and nuanced than is the case where management of the historic environment dimension is the principal concern. In particular such practices are now more likely to be subject to greater testing, through environmental and planning law, as a consequence of recent policy changes.
