ABSTRACT

Georgia, one of the ancient Christian countries of the world has ended 18th c. without having written its Church history. Even the "Life of Georgia" (Georgian Annals, Kartlis Tskkovreba) entirely neglects the history of Church. King Vakhtang VI's "Committee of Learned Men" noticed this only in the 18th c.: "The Life of Georgia curtails the history of Church and gives a long lay story". 1 Nevertheless, neither they had thought of writing the history of Georgian Church, but have only written some additions to the corresponding places of the "Life of Georgia".
