ABSTRACT
The concept of safety climate has now been incorporated into the parlance of safety management in high reliability organisations. This paper opens by examining the prime factors that influence the state of safety climate in an organisation, and then focuses on one of the key determinants - namely the role of management, especially the more senior managers.
