InaconversationrecordedbyhisfriendChancellorFriedrichvonMUllersix yearslateron24April1830,hereturnedtothetopicinaroundaboutbutemphatic way.Assooften,thesubjectwasGermany'suniquelyprecariousliterary situationincomparisonwiththatofitswesternneighbor:
