ABSTRACT

After a number of years of economic depression in the General Aviation (GA) sector, using sales of new aircraft as an index, a resurgence appears to be underway. Cessna has begun manufacturing light single-engine aircraft again, sales of GA aircraft are on the rise, and new technologies are offering capabilities to the pilot heretofore unrealised in this area. The face of General Aviation is changing, and how it evolves is dependent upon both the technology driving some of the change and the processes by which these technologies become incorporated. The intent of this chapter is to identify some of the major technologies that can contribute to the GA evolution/revolution and the factors that may limit the rate at which change can occur.
