Mostpopulations,andespeciallythatofaircrew,areincreasinginsizeastime progresses.Flightdeckdesignersneedtobeawareofthisand,withsomeaircraft likelytobeinservicefor30yearsormore,shoulddesigncockpitsnotjusttofit thepresentaircrewbutforthesizeoftheaircrewexpectedtobeusingtheflight deckinthefuture.Inaddition,designersmusttakeaccountofethnicdifferences withintheaircrew.Forexample,althoughaflightdeckmaybedesignednowto fitbothcurrentandexpectedWesternaircrew,itmustalsoaccommodatethe significantlysmalleraircrewfromtheFarEast.Asifthisisnotdifficultenough, thedesignmustalsotakeaccountofgenderandensurethatthesmallerfemales arenotatadisadvantageandcanperformtheflyingtaskefficientlyandsafely.
