ABSTRACT

Depending on country and industry characteristics, certain days of the week may not be appropriate for running a press conference. Mondays or Fridays1 may not be appropriate, since the journalists either have to work on the backlog that has piled up over the weekend, or they want to leave early for the weekend. So-called ‘bridge days’ between a weekend and a holiday are certainly inappropriate, since many people take that day off for a long weekend. Also, some days during a week may not be ideal, since they are the deadlines or sign-off days for next week’s editions. The same is true for monthly publications that often have their deadlines and editorial conferences on certain days. You need to take into account that the journalists will almost certainly prioritize these internal activities over your press conference.
