ABSTRACT

To err is human; to intellectually rise above other species, seek out hazards, and systematically eliminate or control risks is also human. Successful leaders know how to manage risk in their lives, but also must understand the importance of Personal Risk Management (PRM) among the organization's members. Obvious needs exist for 'on-the-job' risk management, and we manage those risks in several ways; personal protective equipment is one, corporate procedures are another. Also, at work most people are supervised by someone who has a stake in their well-being-productivity. Supervisors need to know, however, that their stake in an employee does not end when the quitting whistle sounds.
