ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates how the conceptual framework developed in the preceding chapter can be used to plan and implement a study of attitudes, behaviours and linking variables. As stated before, the specific example used here is household waste management, but there is no constraint on adapting the methodology described here in order to study alternative environmental behaviours. The study is initially set in context and the research area of Exeter is introduced. The development of a survey instrument is then outlined and explained. The implementation strategy is then examined. Finally, the descriptive statistics of the study are presented and the validity of the study evaluated.
