In order to analyze the changes in Turkish policy in the post-Cold War period and the impact of the EU candidature there, the historical background of the Turkish policy towards the Middle East should be provided. This chapter provides a transition from the general characteristics of the TFP to the developments in the post-Cold War and the postGulf War period in the region.
